TalkingBookz, the Lagos based technology start-up, recently launched its flagship product at Mobile West Africa where we caught up with the team. The vision is to be the top publisher and retailer of African authored audio books in the World, think iTunes for African classics like “Things Fall Apart”; offering indigenous content to Africa and the rest of the world.
Speaking with Appsafrica.com, CEO and Co-founder, Kolapo Ogungbile explained how the TalkingBookz team spent the last year building its business and online platform with support from Lagos based, Passion Incubator.
“The typical TalkingBookz user is one who travels a lot or spends a lot of time commuting. Other uses revolve around lifestyle activities such as exercising, relaxing, cooking, cleaning, e.t.c and individuals whose jobs involve repetitive manual tasks” explains Kolapo.
“We currently have over 10 categories of books, ranging from Religion, Fiction, Memoirs/Biographies, Business, Management, Self-help, Children Literature, and Health & Wellness; on. , there is a book for every type of users. Also, our books are affordable as each audiobook sells between 500 Naira to 6000 Naira”
