25 exceptional mobile startups from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia have been selected to compete in the final of PIVOT East 2014.
Appsafrica recently reported the Pivot East semifinalists and this list has now been cut down to the final 25 who will pitch at the conference in June.
Nurturing sustainable businesses
PIVOT East’s main aim is to facilitate discovery and nurturing of the next wave of high potential mobile innovations into sustainable businesses in East Africa and beyond.
Five categories solving different needs
The startups will go through an intense evaluation process by a panel involving over 20 investors and were judged in five distinct categories; finance, enterprise, entertainment, utilities and society.
The startups in each category are;
Finance category
Finalists include Valuraha, Chamasoft and Chura from Kenya and Beyonic and Ensibuuko from Uganda .
Enterprise category
Thinvoid (Uganda), Online Hisab (Ethiopia), Buymore, ASim Mobile and Offers Africa from Kenya will all compete in the enterprise category.
Entertainment category
The five finalists for entertainment are Safari Tales, Muva Studios, Momentum Core and MapJam from Kenya and Ubongo from Tanzanai .
Utilities category
In the utilities category the five finalists include Maramoja Transport, Gari Sms, Mavazi, Sendy and Mafundi from Kenya.
Society category
The final category sees SokoNect, Totohealth, SokoText from Kenya and Zapmedic and Moquestions from Uganda.
The finalist selection panels are from venture capital firms, angel investors and impact investors including the Savannah Fund and many others.
Finalists of the competition will receive training, coaching and mentorship in the weeks to come before the pitching conference which takes place on the 24th and 25 the of June.
