Lean Startup Machine (LSM) commences its workshop today and throughout this weekend in Lagos, Nigeria. The aim of this weekend is to teach entrepreneurs and innovators to start their own companies using the Lean Startup methodology. Appsafrica.com is a proud media partner of the LSM event in Lagos and we are looking forward to reporting on the future success stories.
Pivot or fail fast
The Lean Startup Methodology is a method for developing businesses and products first proposed in 2011 by Eric Ries. Based on his previous experience working in several U.S. startups, Ries claims that startups can shorten their product development cycles by adopting a combination of business-hypothesis-driven experimentation, iterative product releases, and what he calls “validated learning”. The Lean Startup Methodology enables founders to find out quickly if they have a good business idea, pivot to make it work better or admit failure fast.
Building a startup
This workshop tackles the issues concerned with building a startup from the customer level, rather than a solution level. It is a shift from what is common in the tech start-up world today and is a more viable approach to startup building.Participants will be coached by local technology entrepreneurs, and the Lean Startup Machine team on how to apply the process. The 3 Day workshop will end with a competition amongst the participants followed by a keynote by Tayo Oviosu (CEO of Paga).
This event is sponsored by Lagos Angel Network and proudly supported by www.appsafrica.com.
