From live auctions to agriculture – mobile commerce in Africa knows no bounds

While the debate over the actual size of African consumer market (or lack of) rages on, mobile commerce in Africa continues to grow across many verticals. We look at the African mobile commerce initiatives nominated for an AppsAfrica mCommerce Award 2017.

Jumia Nigeria

Jumia is a system of online commerce and classifieds websites and applications, it was started in Lagos in the year 2012 and since then the company has a presence across 23 African countries. Jumia’s mission is to connect African consumers and entrepreneurs to do better business together.

Mazady – Egypt

Mazady is the region’s first interactive mobile-based auction service, which offers bestselling consumer products at huge discounts reaching 70 percent off their market price. Mazady maximizes the m-commerce opportunity for operators in the Middle East and African region. Subscribers send their bids through a premium shortcode and receive live updates throughout the auction duration. The highest bid is announced to all participants at auction closing.

DressMeOutlet – Nigeria
