Zambia: MTN Appathon competition

MTN Zambia appathon challenge. appsafrica.comMTN Zambia has launched the MTN Appathon, a competition for computer application developers. It is aimed at exposing young developers and gives them an opportunity to sell their innovation in Zambia.

MTN will market best apps
MTN is inviting them to come up with their own inventions, which it will adopt and upload for public use. MTN will market the leading applications, which will generate revenue for the developers.

Deadline 22nd of March
The Appathon will run in two phases. Phase one runs from 22 January to 22 March, when participants should develop and submit their apps to MTN. Phase two is the public judging period and runs from 22 March to 22 April, when apps will compete for downloads to qualify for the initial shortlist. The shortlisted applications will be submitted to experts for confirmation of originality of concept, market relevance and commercial viability among other tests.

Five categories
There are five categories: Entertainment & Lifestyle, Productivity, Games, Education, and Health & Wellness. The best applications in the each category will get a percentage of revenue from the app, ZMK 5,000 prize money, a Samsung Galaxy S4 and free promotion of the application on MTN Play.
