Sw7 one of Africa’s leading technology accelerators has announced the opening a technology innovation hub in the Johannesburg northern suburbs called @Sw7 Workspace.

We felt there was quite a gap in the market to create a dedicated independent hub to support the tech community and to give them a base from which to work,  Keith Jones, Sw7 Cofounder tells Appsafrica.com.

“Johannesburg has now taken the lead in the innovation and startup space and is also the economic powerhouse of the continent so it stands to reason there is a very strong community here”

Sw7 will leverage their corporate relationships to create stronger access to market for the community. The Gauteng technology innovation market is a business market like any other, so a productive work environment, a fibre internet connection, printing, secure parking, a nice outside area and above all, easy traffic access, are important factors. We have also found that a location that allows easy access for the mentor pool and business community is key” explains Jones.

The space will be for tech businesses to build a tech community and “while we are open to all tech, we would expect the majority of the community members to be ICT companies, many, if not most of which will be post revenue. Through our close ties to the banks we would also expect a strong group of fintech businesses” he adds.

The focus is on offering technology businesses a great place to work which is competitively priced and offers a strong network through the Sw7 community and the incubators and accelerators with whom we work. The space opens for business on the 1st of November and offers flexible part time membership to full membership with dedicated desks, meeting rooms catering for groups of six through to one hundred.

“Being an entrepreneur can be a lonely journey and being part of a community of like minded people that are grappling with similar challenges is stimulating and uplifting. The ideal community member would be a software product business that is post revenue or funded with between one and ten staff members.

Our goal is to connect these businesses with the commercial markets, so they need to be ready for this to get value” says Keith Jones. “Sw7 will soon be launching their digital acceleration platform and marketplace Activate and the
@Sw7 community will get full access to this platform as part of the deal”
