iHub Nairobi, in partnership with payment solutions company, Ingenico will be hosting Seedstars Nairobi, the Nairobi leg of Seedstars World on the 3rd of July.
Global startup competition
Seedstars World is a world wide startup competition launched by global venture builder Seedstars SA in 2013. It holds separate events in 20 regions across the globe prior to the main event that is dubbed Seedstars World. The winners of the regional events proceed to pitch at the world competition where the winner gets equity investment. This year the winner stands a chance of taking home $500,000. The winner of the Nairobi event will get an all expenses paid trip to Switzerland where he/she will pitch alongside 19 other winners for a chance to win the final prize.
Big opportunity for local startups
Last year jooist, the mobile game platform emerged winners. Its founder Waliula Makokha took an all expense trip to Switzerland last February where he established valuable global networks. Other than the experience one gains from pitching at the Seedstars world events, he/she gets media coverage, valuable world wide networks and invaluable advice from industry leaders.
Some of the conditions to participate include readiness to speak in public about your startup, the startup must be for profit and it should not be more than two years old. However, it can be across any field. To take part, send in your application by June 25th.
