Innovating Justice event to bring together legal and tech in East Africa

Nairobi set to host an East Africa Innovating Justice event

HiiL Innovating Justice in collaboration with Strathmore Law School will host an Innovating Justice event in Nairobi to gauge the readiness of East Africa for Justice Technology. The event which is set to take place on 21st April 2016 at Strathmore Law School will bring together players from both the justice and the technology sectors across East Africa.

The players are expected to critically analyse the justice eco-system and find ways to adopt technology solutions to various hurdles that curtail the effectiveness of the justice sector.

The Nairobi Innovating Justice event has been prompted by various debates questioning the accessibility of justice to ordinary citizens and the transparency of the justice system.

Commenting on the event, HiiL East Africa liaising agent, Evelyne Wangui, emphasized the need for promotion of justice across all sectors. “We are observing technology application in a number of sectors but the justice sector has largely been left out, especially across Africa. I believe adoption of technology is a key factor that will promote better access to justice for people across the continent.”

Head of Innovating Justice Accelerator, Wilfried De Wever, pointed out that these conversations will mark a good beginning to finding viable and lasting solutions for the justice sectors: “Bringing together key stakeholders is an important step in eliminating barriers that have been clogging the justice system.”

The Innovating Justice Nairobi event will include a digital training workshop to be conducted by The Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) .LegalZoom and the  are also expected to impart further skills on running a successful SME and the laws governing the Intellectual Property rights.

Please register here to participate for both the morning and afternoon sessions of the Innovating Justice Nairobi. The morning sessions are specifically geared towards entrepreneurs and only have a limited number of participants.
