Intel plans to help the local app development community in Nairobi to understand the market in which they are operating in, identifying global trends and lots more as they co-host a session with the local Google Developer Group (GDG) chapter on “Building Apps 101: Know Your Audience” this Saturday 15th Feb.
Android market share up to 78.9%
In addition to knowing what the consumer needs, developers also need to understand how best to capitalize on the existing market reports the iHUB. In 2013, Android market share went up to 78.9%, according to this report, with a record 781.2 million Android phones being shipped last year. Learning how to develop competently on Android provides a serious opportunity for local developers to make money off their work.
Register here to attend the event, which will be held at the iHub from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. Software will be provided, and your laptop must be x64 bit in order for it to work.
The session will involve:
- An introduction on how to use Google Trends
- A deep dive session on Going Native on Android*: how to set up and use Beacon Mountain, Intel tools on Android, etc
- A UX ideation session to narrow down concepts
- Developing prototypes which will be representative of local trends but still be able to gain appeal in global markets
