CcHUB Disapora Challenge to ignite the African brain gain revolution

Bosun Tijani, founder of CcHUB at Africa Tech Summit London.

Africa has one of the largest and progressive diaspora communities in the UK. Engaging this cerebral community is critical to Africa’s development shared Bosun Tijani, founder of CcHUB at Africa Tech Summit London.

This May, Co-creation Hub (CcHUB) will be launching a bold new initiative called the CcHUB Diaspora Challenge proudly supported by AppsAfrica.com, aimed at reversing brain drain for the good of Africa. It is an open innovation challenge intended to engage entrepreneurs, innovators and scientists from the diaspora communities across the UK to source scalable business solutions to social challenges in Africa.

The challenge will launch on Saturday 6th May 2017 at the London Facebook office: 10 Brock Street, Kings Cross London NW1 3FG, to begin at 11.30am.

Scientific and technological innovations are important sources of new solutions in health, environmental and developmental challenges. There are over 300,000 highly qualified Africans in the Diaspora, about 10% of which hold PhD’s and many of which are within STEM fields. It is therefore imperative to engage and work collaboratively for the purpose of development.

The diaspora challenge aims to:
• Increase diaspora understanding and involvement in sourcing scalable business solutions addressing social challenges in Africa
• Facilitate diaspora engagement in development focused dialogues in order to close the value-action gap, and
• Connect innovators, entrepreneurs and scientists with impact investors.

With offices in Nigeria and the UK, CcHUB is a social innovation center dedicated to accelerating the application of social capital and technology for economic prosperity. Our technology hub serves as an Open Living Lab in which user-driven innovation is fully integrated in the co-creative process of new services, products and societal infrastructures. Our team works closely with stakeholders – including social entrepreneurs, technologists, civil society, government and private sector to identify and nurture novel solutions to social challenges.
